
THREDBO lies between Sydney and Melbourne, and can be reached
from both cities (by car) by first taking the Hume Highway.
THREDBO is around 5 hours drive from
Sydney mostly on dual carriageway. Join the Monaro
Highway after just after Canberra if coming from Sydney.
Take the Alpine Way from Jindabyne through the Thredbo Valley
to THREDBO. The Alpine Way is
clear of snow at most times during winter so it is easily accessed
by two wheel drive vehicles. Depending on conditions every now
and then snow chains may be required. These can be hired from
service stations in THREDBO, Jindabyne and Cooma.
From Victoria join the scenic Alpine Way at Albury for one
of Australia's great drives. (this section of the Alpine
way may be closed from July - Sept).
As THREDBO resort lies within the
boundaries of the Kosciuszko National Park. As such, there
is a fee payable on entry to the Park. The fees are currently
24 hour pass - $15 per car
